Samah Sabawi was the last member of her family to be born in Palestine. Days after her birth her father was exiled from the country.
Her family eventually settled in Victoria where her father became a sheep farmer. Her latest book Cactus Pear for My Beloved details the last 100 years of her family history, building on her PhD Inheriting Exile: Transgenerational Trauma and Palestinian-Australian Identity.
