I come from refugeehood and dispossession and into a life of privilege and citizenship. Born in the besieged and militarily occupied Gaza and exiled from my homeland Palestine, I am now a Canadian- Australian citizen living on the stolen land of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjerie Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, in the far settler colony of Australia. Once a victim of colonisation, I am acutely aware that I am now a benefactor of the colonisation of this land I live upon. It is these contradictions and this awareness that fuel and inspire my work and activism.
